Here’s Lookin’ At You, Kids!

The fourth graders have been hard at work studying photographs of themselves and beginning self portrait paintings. They learned about facial proportions, and how to carefully draw the right sized neck and how to sketch the slope of a shoulder.

Since we are taking things slow, the first few steps of painting were merely to block in some colors. Here are some In-Progress shots of the portraits, so far. Students mixed a color of their choice for the background, and then exercised careful color mixing to match their hair and skin tones.

I can’t wait to see them progress!!
