Finally!!!… After months of working on self portraits, and sculptures that had been sent home, the second graders have begun working on a project that I can actually post about!!!
To support the social studies bird unit, each student is creating a mask of one of their study birds. We began by looking at a list of the birds that have been spotted so far and cutting out feathers in the colors of construction paper we would need.
After that, we studied photos of each bird’s head, and created color ‘maps’ on the masks so each student would know where to glue their feathers.
Although we just started, the students have made tremendous progress, and I wanted to share their beautiful masks with you!!!!! I will post more when they are finished and the beaks have been attached.
