1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 100

Are you confused yet…?
No, I’m not teaching the students bad math, it’s all part of my master plan… to learn to mix colors!!!!!
Fourth and fifth grade students are beginning a painting unit, and their first challenge was to take 5 colors of paint (red, yellow, blue – the primaries, black and white) and mix them together to create 100 new colors!

Students were free to show their newly mixed color any way they wanted to, and you can see, some chose to fill in the box of a grid, some made a slanted mark on their paper and some painted little dots. The results were so much fun, and the students were so proud of all of the colors they were able to create!
